I would like to post some pictures of my chickens but I am really not sure how. I have never done this chicken things before but I want to make sure they are doing well and if anyone can tell about how old they are? I do have one that we have been watching that is not growing the tail feathers like the others. We have read that its a boy or its dying. I am not really sure if you can tell by just looking at a picture but I thought I would ask.

Sorry I am still learning this website I didnt mean to post this here but I dont know how to move it or delete it. Sorry!

I don't know how to move or delete either. The best way is probably to use the report button and ask a moderator to move ir delete it for you. The report button should be on the bottom right, next to edit.

These are our chickens. Not really sure how old they are or the sex but they are sweet as can be. Is there a way of telling that they are doing good?

This one is Sage and the one that I am wondering about. We got them all at the same time and from the same place. Her tail feathers have not really grown but from what we have seen is that its a boy or its dying. Is that something that I should be worried about? She is the one facing the wall and as you can see the one next to her has the tail feathers.

I have 100 chickens right now and I have noticed during our chicken adventure that some just feather more slowly than others. As long as they have fresh water, good food, and lots of love, those wonderful babies will grow out at their own pace into beautiful chickens. Take a deep breath and enjoy your babies, they truly grow up to fast.

They appear to be approx. 2-3 weeks old give or take. We have 5 week olds that are still not fully feathered yet. It's a bit early to tell the sex and some breeds are harder to tell than others.

If the chicks look happy and contented doing their chicken thing, you can feel confident that they are doing well. Some chickens hide their illness so well that they die and you have no idea why or have any warning. Your little chicks look normal to me.

Yeah youre right some chicks take a little longer to feather out, I have 8 of the same age right now and some are bigger thean others and some are feathered out and some not, this canalso be the cause of some chicks getting bullied.

Is there a dead give away to what the sex is (when they get old enough)? I'm just wondering if something is going to happen one day where I all of a sudden can tell.

Are those Rhode Island Reds that you're posting? They look like rhodies. Where did you get your chicks/eggs?

Also, the pictures are very hard to see, but it looks like two have a more prominent comb developing.

Some chicks will show a big Comb and wattles even at a very early age around 3 weeks or so you might start to notice the difference, but not all of them tho some you might have to wait a little longer to really start noticing the difference. I say at around 7 or 8 weeks you should know for sure, as roos will have big wattles and combs and noticeable redder comb and wattles. Also they are a little bit bigger and sometimes in some breeds they feather out a little slower then pullets do. Hope this helps.
