Is it too early to tell gender?

Yeah. Too early. If they pop comb/wattles growth and are red like the 100% cockerels in the 1st batch, will be easy to tell. Use the 1st pics as comparison. Honestly, I'd be expecting a couple of the 1st lot to be crowing already. Pullets won't turn red/grow until about a month before they start laying.

If they are crowing they are doing it when no one is around
 
Just want to say that I agree with all, it is highly likely 1, 4, 5, & 6 are male and 3 & 8 are female. I am on the fence with 2 & 7. I like to give birds a bit more leeway for individuality at such a young age.
