Can you train a hen to be broody?

I don't think it's possible to train a hen to be broody but my one of my friend would like to know if you can. She has some chickens of her own that she would like to breed but none of them want to sit on eggs.

I would like to hear other peoples opinions.

She can make an incubator for about $20. Broodiness is a hormone driven behavior. You can modify the environment to encourage it, such as providing a nice inviting dark nest, and leaving eggs in that nest, but IMO there's no way to MAKE a hen go broody. What breed does she have?

She has an isa brown hen, a wayndotte hen, some sort of white hen and a sussex rooster.

X 2 on what LG said. You can do things to encourage it, but you can't make those hormones change.

Hope one decides to go broody for her.
