Okay, I seriously want a parakeet, but some of my family (including myself) can a bit of bad mouth sometimes. What happens if it hears the F-word and goes around saying it all the time? Can you train it to not say it? Somebody would be liable to kill it after awhile. Sometimes, me and my grandfather walk around his neighborhood, and you can hear the neighbor's parrot cussing. 😂 It's kinda funny.

I'm not sure a parakeet are the talking birds... I have a bunch and I think it takes a long training time to teach them words... I know my grandfather had a parakeet that was able to talk but I've never had one or heard one talk... You can train them to say and not say words so I think you'll be fine! If they do start talking and cuss, I guess you'll have a mischievous little bird! 😂 If the neighbors bird is cursing, I guess you'll have two crazy birds🥰😁😂

It takes a LONG time for budgies to pick up words. You have to practice with them every single day if you want them to learn one word. I seriously doubt they'll just start talking one day on their own. Now, bigger parrots like macaws, cockatoos, and the works can pick up words a lot faster. I do recommend getting a budgie. I have three and love them to death. They are very talkative and messy so be prepared for that.

I read that they are as talkative as a parrot. 🤷‍♀️ Oh, okay. How many words can they learn? Is it difficult to train one to speak? That's a relief! Thank you! Guess so! 😂 Thanks for replying!

Wow! Oh, okay. Aw, what colors are they? Are they very loud? And could they be kept in a cage in a carport?

They're very chatty birds. Not very loud per se but are always making noise. It can take them months to learn a word. You have to have a set schedule and do one bird at a time. Very time consuming.

I have a blue pied, a green, and an almost purple budgie. And can you specify what you mean by a cage in a carport?

one can train a parakeet to talk, but they do not pick it up as readily as their bigger parot cousins. I would be unconcerned.
But you know how that goes!

They do quiet down at night (although some birds are prone to having night frights).
That's good! Oh, is that rare?

Okay! Do they quiet down at night? I think I only want one, so they'd be more apt to play with me. LOL. I think it'd be great experience!
they are like potato chips.
but it helps to get one at a time to play with them.
Or get them one on one time to tame them. I never got far with the cutie in my Avatar.
Talkbudgies is a fantastic site for parakeet lovers!
