Can you turn gingerbread cookie dough into salt dough?

Hey everyone, kinda random question here, but couldn't seem to find the answer on Google. :p
We went to a cookie party last night with some friends and of course ended up with extra gingerbread cookie dough. I'm following something similar to Paleo guidelines after a Whole30, and don't want more cookies in the house hahaha! I know that my family would eat it, but still trying to tame my sugar dragon over here, not a good idea. :lol:
I was wondering if it would be possible to turn the dough into salt dough? Then I could make Christmas ornaments with it. I don't want the cookies to mold on the tree, maybe they would be fine anyway? They might not last for more than one season, but I'm interested to see what you guys think. Thanks everyone!
 
Not sure. The gingerbread would have eggs and butter whereas salt dough doesn't have ingredients like that. The only wet ingredient is water. But, I've had someone make me applesauce ornaments. But, the only wet ingredient in that is the applesauce.
Maybe make the cookies and gift them to someone.

This was my concern too. I did read a short paragraph about using a dehydrator to dry them, then spraying them with hairspray, so I might try that. We'll see how it goes.

I used an acrylic spray when I made my ornaments. I thought that would help them to keep longer. I have some that I made 30 yrs ago. 😁
