Can you use a Premier 1 heating plate with different sized chicks?

I have one of the large heating plates from Premium 1 and am wondering if you can put different sized chicks under it by making one side lover than the other or should it only be used for chicks of the same size?

I would just go ahead and use your heating plate and watch your chicks, then adjust it accordingly. Your idea to provide a high side and a low side should work.

Chicks that are having a difficult time getting enough heat will stretch their bodies to gain access to the heat. Chicks shouldn't have to contort their bodies to warm themselves.
