Can you use another type of vinegar than ACV?

Just wondering... I don't have apple cider vinegar on hand but I do have plenty of other types. Would malt vinegar work as well to help with crop problems, etc?

the point of organic ACV is the mother, the probiotics. Another type will probably help discourage algae growth, though. Don't see why it should hurt them.
