can you use 'ice and water' shield for bottom of coop?

Instead of getting the blackjack (and saving money since we already have ice and water shield), could that be used for the floor of the coop? Has anyone else used it?

I didn't understand a bit of that, lol. Just for my future knowledge, can you explain what blackjack is and what you mean by ice and water shield?

blackjack is a rubber sealant many use for the floor of coop. Ice and water is a type of rubber used on roofs to keep ice from forming on roof, used under shingles. It is, as it sounds, ice and water proof. I already have ice and water, so am wondering if that would be ok to use on the coop floor or do I have to get the blackjack 57.

You could use a piece of sheet vinyl. Lots of folks use peel and stick vinyl tiles, but I wouldn't because of the potential for leaks between the tiles...same goes for the ice and water dam, sealing the seams could be important....I don't know if it's meant to be walked on either, could break down. Might depend on what kind of bedding you plan to use.

Not much help of an answer huh? Sorry, too many variables, every situation is different so it's hard to give pat answers.

Use the ice&water shield that stuff is so sticky it won't peel up for anything. I use sand and it works great in the coop just sift it no waste.

I personally have a sheet of heavy vinyl flooring remnant 1 foot longer and wider than my coop I cut a six inch square out of each corner and pop it into my coop the flooring travels 6 inches up the walls (coop is only 4x8 feet).

When heavy cleaning time comes it is a simple matter to shovel off the heavy litter. Pour what is left off the vinyl flooring into the wheel barrow. Hose it off and pop it back in.

Easy Peasy.

Exactly what I do. I got a pre cut piece of vinyl sheeting for $25. Protects the flooring and I can just drag it out when I need to clean.

I was going to use the Blackjack 57 but I wasn't able to find it anywhere near me within reasonable driving distance. I don't regret my choice though, I'd still pick vinyl
