We use DLM (deep litter method) in our open air coop and sprinkle DE every time we add new litter. The coop is on a bit of a slant and between that and the chickens scratching, the litter seems to pile up on the low end of the coop. Anyway, today, dh re-distributed the litter (it's about 8" deep throughout) and added about 12 cups of DE in our 144 sq ft coop. Is that too much? If so, what can I do about it?

That's a generous amount of DE, but I don't think it will hurt anything. Sure should keep the flies and such down.
