Canada goose mom missing

Mommy goose is still missing, no sign of her. But daddy gander is still with the 4 goslings and a blue heron has been hanging around them. Could their be a reason for that? Does the blue heron sense that the mom goose is missing? Kinda curious about this..

I hope you aren't thinking that the Great Blue Heron is there to befriend the goose family... Their primary interest is feeding themselves and they are opportunistic feeders.

I was thinking it was there to maybe keep them company? Or stay with them because something happened to the mom goose?

We noticed that the blue heron never stays there every night, ever since the mom goose went missing the blue heron has been staying there.

You have to be careful. Humans have a tendency to put human thoughts and behaviors onto the actions of animals and things. The Heron does not have the ability to do what you think it is doing.

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions, or intentions to non-human entities. It is considered to be an innate tendency of human psychology.

They grab smaller prey in their strong mandibles or use their dagger-like bills to impale larger fish, often shaking them to break or relax the sharp spines before gulping them down." Does that sound like something that is their to befriend the goose family? He is probably there because the mother is not and those goslings have one less defender!
