Canadian in England...what breed of chickens to get?

My brother recently moved to Essex England, from Toronto Canada, and wants to keep a few chickens.

He wants some chooks (gotta get with the lingo now he's in Britain) that are "British" and something that I can drool over via the 'net.

Can anyone recommend any breeds that are typically English or difficult to get outside of the UK?

sussex!! maybe because I want some They are a good dual purpose bird. hardy and reliable layers. Speckled ones make me drool.
