Canadians check in here....

It's quite pricey to import.

I have Ameraucanas, Naked Neck Turkens, Barred Plymouth Rock, Mottled Houdans, Easter Eggers, Silkies, Sizzles, Polish, Cochins, Royal Palm Turkeys, Blue Fawn Call ducks and Buff Dewlap Toulouse.

:)
aoxa, I may need to buy some from you!!! I am most interested in the Ameraucanas, Barred Plymouth Rock, Easter Eggers, Cochins!!!
I have been looking at the Performance Poultry website and think I may order from there - but have heard of some issues when he took over customers from another hatchery. Have you had any experience with them?

They are EXTREMELY expensive. You have to pay roughly $130 for the shipping alone. That's shipped into Saint John, so you'd have to pick them up there.

They aren't reliable, but the man that owns it was very nice to speak with on the phone.

You can see my website for images of the birds you are interested of that I have.

There are so many breeds I WANT but Id have way too many if I did XD. I mainly want decently cold hardy dual purpose breeds. Not all in this list fit either but most do.

Rhode Island reds
Barred rocks
Wyandottes(All sorts of different patterns!)
Ameraucanas
Easter Eggers
Chanteclers
Delawares
Mottled Houdans
Orpingtons
Spangled hamburgs
Sicilian buttercups
Speckled sussex
cochin
Brahma
Australorp

Id also love a white silkie as a pet XD. Like I said I dont think ill be able to get EVERY type of chicken Id want. Some are rare but mainly I like to have a few 2-4 of each type I get so their not alone. That would make around 60 XD. Then i wouldnt be able to get turkeys ducks and geese lol. Its one of those I want everything. Ill just have to sit down and mull it over as to the final decisions.

Im new to farming though not new to animals in general. I took my vet tech first semester(Left the course because I didnt like the way it was taught) and have been involved in exotic rescues for years(Snakes and lizards, ferrets etc). My husband and I now breed a few select breed of snakes. Probably the biggest issue about moving to that house right now as the house is fully heated by wood. Were going to have to re-insulate and get some heat sources into one room to make it ready for next winter for them.

Oh, my goodness!!!! I checked out your place and it looks fabulous!!!
I know how excited you are - as we bought our place 5 years ago and still have not moved in. Our plan is that I will move first - in August -then hubby after he finishes up at work.
Goats are gonna love it at your place. I have an acquaintance there, who has goats and makes soap to sell at the markets in St. John and Fredericton. I only know her through others, and have yet to actually meet her, but am friends on Facebook with her and I drool over her goats and the sun on the hill behind them in her pictures!
We are in Calgary until our 'blessed event' (moving day) and I am getting ready in every way I can for the trip!

We are looking at having sheep, turkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, a few goats and pigs and maybe a milk cow. This is our retirement project. My husband thinks it is likely to become a petting zoo. hehe.

Is your place just outside of Moncton?

I loved your website! Your farm looks so tranquil I am green. So you raise birds only? or do you have other animals too?
Wow! I am surprised at the shipping costs - but not about the rest as I have heard that from a lot of people. I would love to buy some from you! I won't be there until July or August, though. Our barn is really well insulated and I could have chicks in there over the winter without any harm coming to them. I have a line on some hatching eggs from BC that they will ship out via WestJet so maybe I will do that as well when I am there. Then I can breed orpintons to share with other enthusiasts out in NB!

I have sheep as well :)

I won't have chicks during that time of year other than the silkies, but I will have juveniles. I let my birds range freely after breeding season, so obviously can't hatch or sell purebred eggs.

Though I usually do silkies and Ameraucanas year round. Oh and Easter Eggers as well. They are mixed anyway, and the eggs are very easy to distinguish.

Okay, after another look at your website - I am anxious to buy some of your lovely buff geese as well. Wow! Would you be opposed to a farm visit in the summertime? I get that bio-security can be an issue so would respect any system you have in place. Maybe we could arrange something closer to the time I will be out there.
Thanks for sharing!

you don't have any birds do you?

I have extra shoes here for guests that have chickens, but I've never had anyone come over that did. Usually I don't let anyone that does have chickens close to the barn.

I am always up for farm visits. Especially with new hobbiests. Just make sure you come here before you go somewhere else, or than I will be very concerned with bisecurity (i.e.: same day visit as another farm).
