Canadians check in here....

Hello fellow Canadians! New member although I have crawled this site inside out over the past 3 years since I got my first "ladies". I am near beautiful Wasaga Beach Ontario and have 7 barred rocks (attitudes on legs), 4 OEGB and 6 5 week old beautiful Blue Cochin chicks (one of which I actually think is a barred Cochin cockerel which I'm thrilled with) I think the barred ones look like chickens wearing PJ's! Love me some crazy looking chickens!

Hey Hosiers ( sorry, couldn't resist LOL )

I'm in Pickering Ontario ( just outside Toronto )
Haven't found a Poultry breed I didn't LUV!
"right now" the obsession is SHOWGIRLS & Silkies.

Thankfully my Regular flock is understanding.

( btw - I also Luv Wasaga, what a Great place chickcrack! )

I'm in Ontario Canada an hour south of Ottawa (Williamsburg).
Brand new to raising chickens, we are starting with 4 hens they are around 4 months. I'm actually starting to think one might be a Rooster. I'm super excited to be starting this adventure. This seems like a great site for information and I'm thrilled to have found this thread with other Canadians.

Hi poultry gal and homesteadnmama

. I've been to Williamsburg...well thru it lol. Beautiful place. Congrats for getting your first 4 ladies mama - what breed are they? At 4 months you should be able to tell hen from rooster. Try to get a pic and put on the gender thread if you haven't already. And just a little warning...4 hens will become 24 next year now that you have the bug lol!

Thank you I'm really excited to be starting this new adventure. I believe I have 2 Ameraucanas, 1 Bantham and 1 Mystery.
I have posted in the gender and Breed forum and hopefully someone has some info for me.

Hello everyone; I am in Elk Point, Alberta. I have my first flock, 3 weeks old now. They are quite comical looking here at this awkward stage while the rest of their feathers grow in.

I am looking for a recommendation for next spring. I am looking for a breeder who can supply me with a dozen or so Chantecler day olds. I wasn't successful in finding one for this year so I chose Red Sussex Cross from a nearby hatchery. No complaints about the birds I do have, they all seem hale and hearty, but I would like to get into a cold hardy heritage breed. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
