Greetings from Peterborough. Read all 63 pages and thought the nearest person to me was Bowmanville, Belleville or Coe Hill. That was until Kerjack posted just about this one.

No chickens for us yet. My wife and I are hoping to start next spring. Just deciding on Coop style and breed. More importantly whether to start with ready to lay Red Star pullets from Frey's, or if we can find local backyard breeders to buy/trade with, or whether we will order chicks. So many decisions.

Our wishlist includes Welsummers, Buff orps, Black Australorps, Barnevelders, Black Copper Marans, Partridge Chanteclers, Blue Jersey Giants - I am sure there are a lot more

Welcome.! My advice if you want to find some local breeders is to put up a notice at your local feed mill/co-op, or TSC. Someone might have something you are looking for. If not, there are Frey's and Performance Poultry.

Thank you miss - I have spent lots of time bothering the people @ TSC, the Co-Op and the local feed mill. And I now have a Frey's catalog, just got my Meyer's catalog yesterday, and am still waiting for my McMurray catalog. And likely ordering 3 books before Christmas. Trying to learn all that I can before we decide what to go with.

Hello everyone, I am in Meaford, Ont.

Looking at getting into Chickens come spring, I have been investigating a lot of differnet option and am leanig towards getting some RIR's and Barred Rocks from Frey's around Feb sometime.

Let me know if im on the right track.
