I am so new to owning my canaries.I just got them the week after Christmas.I definately have 2 pr.Right now they are in cages as pairs. Each pair is in a cage that is 36'' w by 48'' h and 18'' depth.I have 1pr that has started laying eggs.I have 2 eggs over a 3 day period. Is this normal to skip a day?Is normal for the other pr to not be laying eggs yet?also I am working on turning a spare room into my bird room(Just waiting for my daughter and her baby to leave next week). Will it stress the birds nesting if I move the cages or should I wait to see if they hatch anything? Thanks any help much appreciated.
P.S.
I never knew what pigs they were Im not talking about there seed. They eat anything I give them in a few hrs there little plates are cleaned.Right know they are getting a cooked pasta and veg mixture,a slice of apple, slice of orange and a piece of whole grain bread.Any other suggestions to feed them?Again;)many thanks!!!

Unless things have changed a lot since I raised them, they should be getting a good base diet of breeder feed not just all the "goodies."

They have there seed dishes refilled daily.I was told by the breeder to give them fruit and other goodies once daily.I'm trying to learn so am open to advice from anyone that has experience.I love my birds.

sounds like they are doing great! Im sure that you can carefully move their cages into the bird room without ruining their eggs.
I have some plastic leafy vines hanging in the cage in front of the nest to give them some privacy.
They like to bathe so make sure that they have lots of clean water and a bird bath (you can get one that attaches to the door of the cage.)
give them wet parsley on a plate...they should love that.
also look into a good breeder's vitamin to sprinkle on their food. also make sure they have a calcium source such as a cuttlebone with a mineral block around it.
fresh veggies and such are treats but as long as they have access to a good seed mix and some egg food or breeder blend, they will be just fine.
Good luck!
