Cancelled Cackle order

Um, if you just refuse the package wouldn't the chicks then just die at the post office?

They will die. They won't make the trip back.

I ordered my chicks in March from other companies and asked for a mid May date. I didn't order anything exotic either. It's the only way you can be totally sure you get what you paid for.

With the economy the way it is there has been an increased demand for chickens and seeds and other "farm goods". Our feed stores are pretty wiped out of plants and seeds and the one that does chicks has been putting in repeated orders. Usually they just do one order.

I've even had random people knocking on my door looking for chickens and other birds. I can't keep up with eggs at $3.50 a dozen.

Your not intending on refusing some chicks that you ordered, are you?

Not me. The OP stated in post #10 they refused the package at the post office.

it's not till the 27th of this month. which means the eggs haven't even been set yet for your batch. i'd call them and explain and cancel the order. 2 months is too long for them to not get with you on the status. don't email. whoever handles emails over there is not very nice. speaking from experience.

just keep calling and you'll get through. call early in the morning. that's when i usually got through.

Whoever handles the e-mail, there, DOESN'T HANDLE THE E-MAIL in my experience. I ordered late April; cancelled a few days later (via e-mail and fax, cuz their phone is off the hook); I was FLABERGASTED to receive a ship confirmation on May 23rd and to find that they had charged my CC on May 14. I sent a fax, an e-mail and a letter on May 23rd. Was able to leave a voicemail on May 24th.
No response to any of this! None.
Soooo.... I sent them a certified letter on May 28th.
I live in Michigan and will be in Hawaii when they plan to ship these chicks.
I am generally very easy-going, but this has been INSANE. I have had 29 chicks at my home for the past 3 weeks (ordered from Meyer) and I swear: Dealing with my Cackle cancellation has been almost as hard as caring for my new little flock.
Good luck to you.

I DON'T want the birds to die!

Yes, I did order the birds, however I, in no manner, expected a one month confirmation, and an additional month wait.

I did cancel more order via the internet and have called Cackle incessantly but can't get through because their phone lines are constantly busy.

I don't see it as renegging on my order at all. Had I been informed that it would take two months to receive chicks, I would have certainly ordered from another vendor.

I called the credit card company in the hopes that they would have more success and clout in reaching Cackle than I've had.

I think that if Cackle was responsible, they would have least acknowledged the cancellation, which I believe is a reasonable one, so that I wouldn't have same experience that other people on this board have had. No communication, no returned emails, not being able to get through by phone, having to cancel orders because of lack of communication and then having birds sent anyway. It shows a lack of professionalism on the part of the vendor.

It's the "don't want the birds to die" part that makes this so difficult. If they were shoes instead of fuzzy butts... Whatever. My DD is just so upset about this.
I don't understand what is so "impossible" about communicating with people. Push comes to shove, they should hire some "warm bodies," give them a 10 minute orientation & have them dig through the mail, call people, whatever it takes. I used to run a restaurant and believe me, we used to beg people to bring a friend, sibling, roommate to work. Anything to get the job done!
