Cancer Survivors? Do You Know Any?

My mom.....5 different bouts of cancer over the last 15 years....colon, lung, breast, skin and within the last year breast again. She's a tough old gal tho and is doing well.

I am. Diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 2B, in July 2003, had one third of my right breast removed that August, started aggressive chemotherapy in Sept, followed by 7 weeks of daily (1 each weekday) radiation treatments. I turned 50 recovering from surgery.

Off work during treatment, for ten months. Clear Smash-O-Mams since.

It was rough, but if I suffer a recurrence I would do it again. Actually, if it shows up again, I'm having what's left - plus the left boob -lopped off. My boob(s) bit me once; they do it again, they gotta go. Not really usin' 'em, anyway.

Life and living is good. Especially with chickens.

1) Breast Cancer
2-3) two surgeries followed by 12 chemos and 28 radiations
4) Found 4th of July 2003 and finished treatment the next Feb.

Worked off and on taking a few days after chemo. Stage 4A. All through the right side and in one node.

Now my sister-in-law is going through same thing

Need to be cancer free for 5 years to say you beat it.

My son was diagnosed in march 2006 and has been in remission 4 years october 3rd. He had 4th stage Non-Hodkins Lymphoma. After getting the port put in, 6-8 months of chemo broken up by about 2 months in hospital trying to beat random infections between chemo treatments.

A family member had breast cancer twice. First one was a lumpectomy, second time it was a single mastectomy. She is a registered nurse, and chemo was advised. She refused. Doing well now.
