Well I'm not much of an article reading person, I'm more of the experiment person, and I have had my share of loose and deatchable air cells, I can tell you as soon as growth has started, I lay mine down, never borther them nor has it effected them in anyway. As they get older the loose air cell will stick.. I find that ducks do much better laying down.

As far as DEATACHABLE air cells, I have never had any luck trying to get growth in them. I think once it has broken threw and is moving around in that shell like bubbles, it's a lost cause, at least for me it is.

If someone else has the secret to hatch out a deatchable air cell, I would LOVE to know how to get them to grow. Loose air cells NOT a problem.

Why do ducks do better laying down? And I have 2 that are 13 days old and have been upright the whole time and look great, but if laying then down is better then I will. Also I have a badly staggered hatch so the carton is a way to keep them separated. If you like experiments you should check out the one Im doing. The link is in my siggy

candled eggs tonight growth in most of my quail eggs and all of my muscovy duck eggs and the majority of my chicken eggs it is going to take me ages to go through them all at day 10 I didn;t know that duck eggs do better being layed down I have them and the quail eggs in turners. amazing how fast the quail eggs are changing. Did not mess with my eggs that were farther along much just too many eggs now lol I have well over 300 in different stages. My 60 eggs in lock down are just sitting there being all egg like lol I bet I have a couple hatch early from them although to me day 21 is early lol. Come on chickies show your selves.

I don't know why, I'm not sure if it's because they are bigger then a chicken or what the case is, I just know that when I tried both ways my hatching rate was higher when I laid them down. If you go to my website click on the duck tab I have posted two ways that I have hatched both methods work for chickens with the exception of method one you don't sponge a chicken egg. But I do lay all my eggs down, even on a turner as in method two..
