I smelled a smell so I checked.

Three quitters. One is still a possibility. Judging by size, I know what happened to them... again, my fault.

Boy, my first batch is going really horribly. I've learned a lot at the expense of a lot of chicks. UGH!

I will keep updated on last egg.

That sucks. I kinda know how you feel. I had half of my eggs hatch. The other half were fine going into lockdown and then.....I don't know what happened to them. They just died right before they hatched. I kept looking at them, willing them to peep...or wiggle...or SOMETHING. I held out hope for another 36 hours, but nope. All dead. I can't bear to open their shells. Poor little babies we never knew. I know they don't all hatch, but I am still sad for those babies. I hope your last egg hatches.

That stinks, Mortie!

I got a surprise when I just went out and disturbed my broody. There's one pip and possible a second. But the funny thing is that she's been stealing eggs! There are now 11 eggs! I'm pretty sure which are the unfertilized ones from my hens but my markings came off of the fertilized ones so I really can't guarantee I'm right. I'm going to just leave them under her until some hatch.
Pretty cool to have 2 hatching simultaneously - one in the coop and one in the incubator. I'm happy to know that I will have 2 chicks so they have each other to grow up with - next will be the question of sex.

Thanks - I really hope that one hatches, I love it too! They are mixed eggs from a local farm. I was told they are white leghorn, Americaunas and RI Red crosses. Curious to see what I get!

You sound like me. I got my eggs from a mixed flock, tho I have no idea what the adults were. I have a bunch of bantam eggs, one of which is green.

When are yours due to hatch?

Sunday or Monday for the first group. Then Thursday, then the following Thursday, then the following Thursday. The first group started as 13 eggs but I think Im down to 1 viable. I put 9 into lockdown a few minutes ago. All chickens. Then the one for next Thursday is 8 chicken eggs tho I don't think any are viable. Then it's 4 Ancona ducks, a mutt goose, and 8 chickens. Last is 3 ducks and a goose
