Awesome guys
Yeh I'd have to agree about your eggs, Chloe, but unless they start to smell I'd leave them in there unless you're REALLY SURE. Sometimes shells are so thick you can't blood vessels and very pale or yellow babies are hard to see, once I thought one was empty but left it, turned out to be a small white baby!
I have 8 eggs that are on day 16. My bator has been fluctuating at the high end so I think they may hatch a day early, I really hope they'll be alright...
I have 4 mutts from the farm down the road (just for a bit of excitement of what I'll get and to fill the incubator, but I suspect one may be empty)
and 4 from my hens, 2 of which are from my hen that I incubated 6 months ago and has only been laying for a month or so! I chose 2 eggs with the best looking shell as I know it can take hens a while to develop a decent egg, but I'm selling my beautiful black Jersey Giant cockerel so I was desperate to carry on his genes.
My hen is a Buff Sussex but she is very small, I think she may not be purebred and her dad was some sort of white bantam as she looks exactly like a BS just a third the size!
The other 2 eggs are from my Goldlines who lay massive, dark brown eggs, I'm expecting huge fat chicks!
I'm 25 and live with 4 guys who have 9-5 jobs and think I'm utterly insane...
I KNOW naming chicks that aren't born yet is risky, but I can't resist.
I'm thinking; Betty, Olive, Pigeon, that's it so far
SO EXCITED I keep going in my office to have a look, and then I think 'oh wait, they just look like eggs' and then walk out again.
I will candle them tonight and post photos if visibility is good
