candle eggs

I have a broody hen on 13 eggs she is not in the best place. she is in a horse stall that occasionally a horse is put in long enough to eat. when the eggs hatch I am afraid the horse may step on them or will the hen move them to safety. I tried to put her nest in a box in a wire cage but she freaked out and kept going behind the wire cage so I put the nest back on the floor. also how to I candle? where can I find out how?

I would just not put the horse in there , its not life threatening to the horse to not be there to eat but its is for the chicks and chicken.
