Just locked down my 11 Buff Orpington eggs and have struggled with candling them.. mainly due to no light seemed strong enough or "pinpoint" enough if that makes sense.. well we decided to try with my hubby's maglite mini as we got ready for the final count down. I was thrilled to see "something" in the majority of the egg in all but one... seemed curled and taking up the majority of the inside. We saw something pointed too.. lol.. not sure it that could have been a toe, claw, or beak! The MOST exciting part was that we saw MOVEMENT in two of them without a doubt.

Now I know that might not be super exciting to people that hatch alot of eggs but it was thrilling for us and our first hatch. They are due 16/17 and hopefully the humidity is good and we will have fuzzy butts soon.

YAY! I use a mini mag lite. They're the best for candling!

Good luck for your first hatchlings!

I have about 25 assorted bantam cochins due to hatch on the 16th as well.

Pam.. DH says you can get them at wal-mart.. but I have seen them at the HomeDepot/Lowes too.. closer to the checkout lanes. He says it is the one that takes 2 AA batteries
