Candled today...

Not yet, I'm almost done making a cabinet incubator that is 16" x 16" x 36" tall.

Right now all I have are 2 hovabators and they just aren't cutting it

Haha.. I have two LG's.. trying to sell my pottery wheel to get some sportsman money! And, of course, right when I finally decided a sportsman will be good for me, my friend showed me his 1200 egg capacity something-air incubator... filled to capacity, naturally... uggh!

It's real hard brooding staggered hatches of geese especially if only one hatches. It takes them so long to get steady on their feet so you can't put them in with the three day olds, they get stepped on and picked at. I put a small box in the brooder but it's not great.

Wow yeah, that must suck.. Goose eggs keep about the same as chicken eggs, so no worries.. Stop doing those darned staggered hatches, lol!

Im only on day 4 of my incubating my goose eggs. While they were cooling last night I decided to candle to see...well just to see if I could see anything. 3 of the eggs look darker in the yolk now than they did they day I put them in. I candled them the day I put them in to see if my LED light would work. Does this hopefully mean that 3 out of 4 eggs are good so far. I have my fingers crossed I can hatch these out and im trying not to stress over them.

Sounds like they are developing. When candling goose eggs, what you want to do is shine the light on the side of the egg where the yolk is. I was able to see the vein web and developing embryo at 5-7 days doing it this way. Of course I can't see a thing in them now, but at least I know they were developing

. I candled them 5 mins ago and all look good. They are Sebastopol eggs from a coloured flock so Im hoping for a bit of colour in some of them if not all of them. Fingers crossed
