Candling brown eggs? Am I going about it wrong?

Well, mother nature took her course. Went out a bit ago and momma and the 3 babies left the nest and went exploring. Eggs were pretty cold so I decided to chuck em. First one, filled with yellow goop. Smell that would make a maggot puke lol. 2 of them had semi developed chicks, none were breathing/moving. Pitched the other two in the woods. Momma and babies have since been moved to a extra large pet carrier with their own food and water and are in the main coop with my other 3 month old chicks. The others are all very curios as to who the new girl is. Will have to figure out when it's safe for all of them to mingle together without serious fighting. I wonder since momma hen is a couple years old, if she would automatically be at the top of the pecking order. She is 3 times the size of the others.
