Candling button quail eggs, is this what the veins look like?

Just out of curiosity, what is it that the egg is sitting on??? I've used a chicken McNuggets box lid with a dime sized hole with black cloth on it.
its my cell phone case.. I have an iphone 5 and it works great. My fiance has an iphone 4 and it doesnt work as good, but you can kinda see through the egg

That is awesome. Thanks for the great pictures. I am new to raising any kind of animal and I decided to start with quail. I have my incubator set up and I am picking up Texas A&M quail on Saturday. I hope to see development like that when I first candle.

heres the egg today! its getting darker inside & not as much light comes through, but this is what i can see.. looks pretty promising :)
Amazing I did try chicken eggs at first and had no luck so had grown to full size but passed away before hatching and the rest was useless from day dot my friend suggested doing quial she said their so much more easier to incubat and the hatch rate is much better I don't knownhow true this is but at 4days of incubation and already seeing vains is so much more promising I didn't see this in my eggs for the most part some I couldn't see through at all she went onto say their like popcorn once one hatches the rest follow so out of 12 eggs I'm thinking all will hatch maybe one or two at the most will fail but I'm more hopeful with these eggs

You may not have noticed, but this post is from 2013 and the person to whom you replied hasn't been seen here since 2015. I doubt you'll get a reply from them.
