Candling confusion

Coturnix really, really should not be kept alone. They're very social, it's borderline cruel to keep one alone, even with human interaction. You need to be trying for multiple.
Also, don't put one with your budgie, budgies bite and can be dangerous to other birds.

I did not know that. I'll hope for two. Though my budgie doesn't bite anything but seed. But I mostly just want to know if the eggs I have are anything worth so I can try again with eggs from this Whole Foods place. Thank you for that bit of info! It would certainly be an interesting experiment to see if budgie and quail could get along, but one bio experiment at a time.

So should I toss these eggs or wait a few more days to see if there is any growth?

You really need more like 5 coturnix, with no more than one male, for them to have a solid social order.
Budgies are parrots, and parrots, even small ones, shouldn't be trusted with anything fragile. Quail count.
At day 5, it's probably too early to see anything. Give them a few more days.

5 Quail huh? I might be able to get away with it with my parents if I can make some of em hawk food...

While I would normally agree with you, my budgie seems to be a special case. He'd rather run then bite. He even tried to fly away from unfertilized quail eggs.

If you humanely kill the extra males, those should be good hawk food, yeah.
If you just want a couple of indoor birds, button quail are better. They should be kept in pairs (male/female or female/female), and can live in small pens. Coturnix are often kept outside because they can be smelly.

Do you have your supplies available for if/when any hatch?

This is Day 5 (I bought them on Saturday), Temp is kept around 96-97 degrees F, Humidity kept between 50-30%, Still air.

I have 15 eggs, three or four of them have that darker area in them.

It was just an experiment, if one were to hatch he'd probably be with my me or mom and budgie, who spends all day outside of his cage. I was really only expecting to hatch one, if any, but that one quail would get a good amount of pampering and loving.

The youtube video this is based off of:
Day 5 is a bit early. I candler quail eggs on day 7. You should see agroup of veins coming from a central point. It looks sort of like a spider.
