I've been told that in addition to allowing bacteria in, the pores allow perhaps too much moisture out, and to bump up the humidity by 5% or so... I don't know if anyone else has had any problems with it, but I know a lot of my porous eggs don't make it to hatch... not to worry you...
I have the same experience-- my porous ones don't make it to hatch. Unfortunately this season, most of my hatching eggs have been on the porous side.
Thanks for the tip about bumping up the humidity-- I've got a hatch going now that I have increased the humidity above recommended levels (ex mero motu, having diagnosed my problem as low humidity) but I increased humidity because I thought my hygrometer was giving me a wrong reading not because my hatching eggs tend to be porous-- but it may work to my advantage--huh? a case of doing the right thing but having the wrong reason in mind but same purpose (i.e. increase humidity-- because I think hygrometer is screwed up & to increase hatch rate).
