Hello,
First time trying to hatch here. Last summer I had a broody hen sit for 2 months and I could not break her broodiness for anything. So this year I am letting a broody hen sit on some fertile eggs I bought for her and we are at day 17. My husband told me that you can not turn the eggs or you can detach the chick. Is it ok to move the eggs to candle? Do you just try to keep them in the same position? Should I just wait at this point for another few days and see what happens?

Also, the hen has thrown some eggs out of brooder. I'm assuming these weren't developing and she knew? How do they even carry them so far?

Thank you!

I did not know about not turning the eggs when candling them. I turn my eggs when I candle them. I just try not to mess with them after day 18 (lockdown day). From day 18 to day 21 or so the chick "positions" itself to be able to hatch.

I think I better be careful then at this point. So far this hen has been a good brooder so I'll just trust her. She's been real good about caring for herself during this and has only lost minimal coloring to her comb.
