Probably a dumb question, but, can you candle an egg to see if it’s a double yolker? I got this huge egg, (95.5 grams), yesterday, and I was wanting to see if it was a double or not without breaking it open. I’m gonna try later when it’s dark enough. Just wondering if any one had tried.
Yes, you can. You should see 2 dark shadows inside the egg. If you don't know what you're looking for, you can post pictures of it being candled, and we can help you.
It might be hard to see, but the darker area is where the yolk is. This is a duck egg, so it's yolk is larger, but it should be pretty obvious inside the egg.
I will candle later and post an update. Thinking about incubating it with the silkie eggs I’m preparing to put in. See if I can hatch twins, as big as the egg is maybe triplets,(wishful thinking).
