OK, because I also want to know when to candle and also because Im setting my first eggs this Friday 11-4-11.
Is this correct? Is this when I should be doing some candling?
Always clean hands prior to touching any eggs.
1) Day one: Before setting the eggs check each egg for cracks and/or damage and discard the obvious ones.
2) On day 7 10: Candle each egg looking for development, ie veins or maybe even an embryo.
3) On day 18: Candle each egg again and discard any quitters (at that point the ones with no development since day 7-10) before going into lock down and then just wait.
4) Finally, dont remove any chicks, If at all possible, until a day or so and after all hatched chicks have had a chance to dry.
I know that Im probably over thinking all this but I guess I just want to make sure that Im doing it correctly the first time. LOL, I have even had the bator running none stop since last Thursday and I think I finally have this thing right where I want it.
So am I forgetting anything?
