candling pictures day 9- help

I am on day10 of my hatch. I have been having some questionable tempature problems. My old dial thermometer says I'm running at 99-102. I just got 2 digital fluker thermometers and they are both different saying 94.9 and 97.3. I tested my dial against a baby thermometer in warm water and it was within 1 degree, so I'm sticking with the dial one for now.
Here are some candling pictures from last night candling, day9. This is my first time candling, so can someone help me out. The first 2 I believe are of healthy embryos. The next 3 I'm a little confused on. They are dark on the top half, some I think have dark spots in them, but can't be sure.
I am using the dry incubation method and the humidity has been between 40-50% with no water on the bottom. Am I on the right track??

It's kind of hard to see clearly but I am suspicious of the last two. The first two look ok but kind of young... is the temp in your bator even?

Here is a day 12:

For now, unless it is a clear , or a blood ring, leave them in and candle again on day 14 or so. By then the eggs should be all dark like your middle pics, with some clear space by their "feet" or pointy end of the egg besides the air cell.

I agree with Silkie - it's hard to tell. The first 2 look kinda small for 10 days, but I wouldn't give up on them - it may just be the angle of the embryo. . . . The rest of them are iffy, but again, I wouldn't give up on them. I would check your temps again - maybe try another thermometer?

You said the first 2 look a little small. Could this be because my tempature really is too low and the flukers are correct? I did have a marginal sucess with my prior hatch, but it went 22/24 days, so for this hatch I bumped up the temp a little.

I bought the flukers to settle my temp question, but it only added to my confusion. Does anyone know how to test and/or calibrate these digital flukers? I've seen pictures of pther people bators and they have them sitting in an empty egg holder saying 100 degrees. I did that and it says 94 and 97 degrees. I thought that the eggs wouldn't even start growing till the temp was over 98.

Now I'm confused even more.

The threshold for development might actually be in the mid to lower 90's, but with some of your eggs looking too young and some looking old, I say you might have a temp gradient. Try rotating the eggs spots from out to in to get it more even on average. You did open all the unhatched eggs right and figure out what day they made it to?

Tiffanyh: Nifty has the first few days on the front page, but when I go to incubate eggs again, I'll take a few pictures every day and put it up on a page. Might be a while though.

No I didn't open up the eggs that didn't hatch. Last time I just put eggs in and didn't do any candling or anything. At 25 days I took the eggs that didn't hatch, broke one open and gagged and nearly threw up, it even made my dog leave the room, it was that bad. It never developed and was rotten.
I didn't want to break open the others and have a huge smelly mess, I was lucky to get that one egg cleaned up and smell gone before DW came home and had a fit

, and ban my new project from the house. After that experience, that is why I'm candling now, to hopefully get rid of the smelly ones.

Hey, silkiechicken, please do tell what your illumination source is! I had a really hard time candling my duck eggs and could use something that strong.
