I am incubating 20 eggs right now as part of my 4-H club's poultry project (and to increase my own flock
)
We are going to candle the eggs for the kids to see but I had two questions
1) What day in the incubation process are we going to best see something? Meaning - when is too early to candle?
2) Do you know where I can find clear pictures of a fertilized vs unfertilized eggs so I can have the kids look at those pictures and then tell me if our eggs are fertilized or unfertilzed (I have no guarantees from the farm where we got them LOL) I thought that would be a great project for them.
I don't want them to handle the eggs so I will be doing the actual candling but this was how I wanted to get them a little involved and excited about the process.
Tara
PS Thank you as always for your wonderful help and advice!
oh and they are almost all guaranteed to be Dark Brahmas. The farm said one of his bantam Hens was accidentally let in with the Brahmas and laid a few eggs. one or two of the eggs are quite small
