So just for practice since I’ve never candled an egg before, I pulled a few infertile eggs out to try. I could not find one air cell. Am I missing something? These eggs have all been picked up in the last few days.
The first yellow ones are from white eggs, the next reddish are from light brown eggs, the next yellow/greenish are from green & blue eggs, and the last red are from dark brown eggs.
Isn’t there supposed to be an air cell?
Thanks!

This is a video of a fertile egg on day 3 of incubation.
Notice at the very beginning the first second or two of the video you can see a tiny air cell on the left side of the egg.

Yup, I saw it!
I guess we eat eggs too fast lol. Maybe I’ll take one and set it aside for a week or two and try candling again.
Thanks for the video!
I’m assuming if I pick up hatching eggs that have been laid within a few days of pickup (I’m only 20 minutes away so they won’t be shipped), I won’t be able to see an air cell, correct? So just set them all and wait til first candle?

Nothing to do with candling. Pad those eggs well when you are transporting them so they don't get shaken. I brought some hatching eggs home over some rough country roads and did not do that, I set them on the floor. I only got 10 chicks out of 30 eggs. If I'd just set them on the seat I'm sure my hatch rate would have been much better.

Thank you, that’s good to know! I’ll maybe bring DH with me to drive & I’ll hold them. I read some people candle eggs before setting them, but I’m unsure I’ll be able to see anything since she said they would be collected within 48 hours of pickup.
