Candling Question - Please Help Vertical

Help Please, I am new to incubating chicken eggs and need help. I candled at day 5 and saw movement. Today is day 7 and I candled again because on day 5 I was concerned about the position of the insides of the egg. This does not look normal? The egg standing up on the Brinsea candler shows the yoke, embryo on the right hand side and clear on the left hand side with a vertical separation? I have a Brinsea mini advance which turns the eggs every 60 minutes. This looks like a turning problem to me. Any help from anyone would be so much appreciated. Is this egg a bad egg now? I did not see any movement in the egg this morning.

The top pic does look funky to me. As though it's been on one side and not turned. The shell itself looks a bit porous, but it could just be the pic. I haven't enough experience yet where I have . seen this. Possibly some of our experienced pros might. I personally wouldn't give up on it yet if it's not smelly or blood ring. I would mark my eggs on one side to make sure they were all turning properly though if it's not something you can tell just by watching. I'm not familiar with how the Brinsea turns the eggs.

Thanks AmyLynn, no one else has responded.. I am feeling helpless and desperate right now. After reading some more on the site it seems that the egg should be in a 45 degree angle to help with gravity push the air up to the blunt side of the egg. I have been doing this, disabled the Brinsea turner because it requires eggs to be laying horizontally. It is right now at 45 degrees with me manually turning it. This is my only viable egg so I am doing everything I can or need to for this one egg. Now the air cell seems to be completely on the pointed end of the egg. Please see picture. I do not know what to do, leave it in the 45 degree angle, put it back on the auto turner in the Brinsea or ?. Please see picture. The embryo is still alive and active with movement. If anyone is reading this and has had experience with eggs like this with the air cell please contact me. It is now day 9.

I have a few that did that same thing, I am at day 12 I see movement so I am hopeful. Hopefully some of the experts will respond so we both know. Good luck to us both.

To me it looks like it may be growth, and I don't really see veining in that egg. The egg in question looks as if it hasn't been turned and was only growing on one side... If it's only day 7, give it a few more days. If, at day 10, you see no changes I would toss it. In my opinion that egg is a dud, but that -might- change. Hard to tell... I hope I'm wrong and that your egg improves / grows. Usually by day seven you see more veining and color throughOUT the egg, not just in one spot.

Thank you for the information, did you happen to see my latest picture. There is a lot of veining now (day 9) and there is no more vertical separation anymore. There is no air cell though visible at the top. There is a lot of movement of the embryo. I am not sure what to do, leave it at the 45 degree angle and turn it manually or put it back on the auto turner laying on its side horizontally or something else?

I'm sorry, I'm tired. Didn't realize the last post was of the same egg. The veining there definitely looks better. Like you, I'm still concerned with the air cell. Looks like the air cell was on the ' wrong end ' in the first pictures, as well. A previous poster mentioned that egg looks porous, and I agree. I'm stumped on this one. I'd keep turning it as you have been, better chance since it's done so much improving within the two days now.

Keep incubating, keep turning. I don't have any other ideas at the moment, my brain is done for the day. Haha.

Yes thank you for your input, I only started the 45 degree position today so I don't think know if that had anything to do with the picture today. I will continue to leave it at 45 degrees and turn it manually until I hear from someone otherwise. The egg did look a little porous but I think the picture was not good, I am not overly concerned with that. I just hope that I am doing the best thing possible right now knowing what is the best position for the egg in this situation. If there is no air cell developing at the blunt end is this a lost cause? I am not sure what to do if this keeps developing knowing that this may be a lost cause with no chance of pipping into an air cell if it is at the bottom?

I've some hatch from the wrong end but very rarely. They usually get stuck because they don't have as much room to turn and move around. I wouldn't give up on it just yet.

Don't give up as long as it's still growing and moving. Just recently someone had a similiar situation on another thread where the air cell formed at the small end, but the chick pipped the big end where the air cell should have been. It's not a lost cause as long as it's still alive. I would keep it vertical and hand turn it.
