Does any one have any tips on candling really dark eggs? I bought some BCM's a couple weeks ago I can 'kind of' see in them... I guess well enough to at least think there is something there, but was wondering if there are any tricks to these really dark ones???

Sorry--no personal experience. My ducks lay white/light green eggs. But I do know that even with the light colored eggs, a couple things make a big difference: The darkness of the room, and the brightness of the light. If you can find a TOTALLY dark room, that is great--otherwise, wait till night and go into a closet with the light turned off. Try to get a really bright flashlight or other lightsource to work with. I was really surprised the first time I candled at night how much more I could see, versus a dark corner of the basement (but still with some natural light) during the day.

Good luck!

Hi!
I just got some Cuckoo Maran eggs from a friend today and she said to candle them on day 10. Go into a pitch black room with a LED flashlight then on day 10 candle them. Good luck on the hatch!

Thanks for the advice guys. The only room we have with no windows is the bathroom... I can't wait till someone catches me in there in the dark with my eggs...
