Hi all, well its day 27. I started off with 27 emben eggs and am down to 14 now. I recieved 12 of them from a farmer and am sure they weren't turned in storage. The temperature has been maintained at 37.5 degrees throughout with a humidity between 40 and 50%. I've turned them for the last time last night and left them with the air pocket upwards. I've increased the humidity to the high 70's and am now wondering whether I should candle in the remaining few days? I have a forced air incubator and can't hear pipping over the hum of the fan. Any advice gratefully accepted as I don't want to fail after my efforts in the last month!

I would suggest going out to a movie ...

Ignore the incubator until at least 10 hours AFTER you should have seen someone hatch.

You do not want the humidity going all crazy with last minute peeking.

Yep, it's definitely time to sit on my hands!! One externally pipped last night and two more this morning. The first one hasn't advanced any further and I'm wondering whether I should assist. Reading Petes advice in the sticky has reassured me until tonight when I may panic again and consider helping. The egg pipped around the equator rather than in the air pocket and that's the reason for the anxiety

If the pip is in the wrong place it can take way longer for them to be ready to hatch. Think of it as the internal pip. He now has to reroute his blood flow, figure out breathing, and finish absorbing the yolk.

All of that takes time.

It didn't make it out of the shell. Although it had cracked the shell, the membrane didn't break. However a sibling just hatched two hours ago and six others have externally pipped too so fingers crossed for more success

As of last evening, 13 successful hatched out of the 14 I had in lockdown. As each of them externally pipped I enlarged the hole and made sure that the membrane was torn and pulled away. The 13th needed a bit more help and I stripped the shell halfway to allow it out. It turned out to be a star gazer and I have it some vitamin b last night and it was right as rain this morning.
