Candling with door open or closed or what?

Curious as to what does everyone else does with the door when they candle their eggs?

I've never incubated and I don't want my eggs to get cold while I candle them. I'm not even sure if it matters if the egg temp drops a degree or two in the meantime. I set 24 eggs this morning.

I always take one out, close the door, candle, open the door, put it back. If I still see a large drop in humidity, I'll add hot water to the tray since it immediately steams and doesnt have to heat up.

The only time I dont do that is with a broody. I'll pull an egg from under her, candle, set it aside (gently!), pull another egg, candle, set it aside, etc, and then nudge them back under her one at a time. Otherwise you candle the same egg 50 times.

You have plenty of time to candle with it unplugged and wide open.
