Cannibalism, Chickens pecking, Please Help

I have ordered some bumpa bits online but they haven't arrived yet. I'm also sprouting some wheat which I hope will help stop the boredom.

The bumpa bits arrived! I will be applying them to the birds tonight. I'll probably give an update on how well they work in a few days.

Btw, the salt water helped a little bit, but it didn't erase the problem. Hopefully the bits are the answer.

I'm having a similar problem- My rooster got frost bite and the hens are pecking at it.. I've smothered it with Blu Kote and am trying to stop the cannibalism in its tracks. Its horribly disturbing, there was blood smeared on the feeder and walls from him wiping his head.

I think it is caused by the boredom, and being cooped up indoors with nothing to do. I too just had a blizzard, and the problem has intensified. I heard that hanging a cabbage head in the run, or scattering chicken-friendly kitchen scraps for them to find is a good way to control the boredom.

Let me know how the bits go!

Thier probably peaking at each other out of boredom an so we put suitcakes in feeds and then we also hung some CDs up for them to peck at and It solved my problem.

The bits are working really well! They had to be confined due to snowstorms/extreme cold and there was no pecking at all!
