cannibalization of 6wk old chicks

Im going thru the very same thing with my WLH. I bought the blue stuff and have the one missing its tail feathers in a separate cage but right next to the big cage so they can all see one another. my coop of brown egg layers have not bloodied each other at all. I seriously think the issue is genetics in my WLH

I did a strung head of cabbage for my brown egg layers, they ate all of it. I also gave them a corn on the cob they devoured that too!!! my brown egg layers are off of chick start and on grow . i understand the only difference is the grow formula does not contain cocci meds.

does 8x8 work for that many if they have outdoor space as well? Just curious.. not sure how big my actual coop is (i'll have to measure) but we thought the outdoor space would make up for the lack of indoor.. After all the most time they spend in the "coop" is night right? I have roughly the same number of chicks.

i agree about the size , but these chicks are only 6 weeks old right now and 10 of the chicks are going to a neighbor. they will have a 20x20 run attached to their coop; that run opens up to another 20x30 run and another chicken house. this will be their transition home until they are fully socialized with my other hens and can choose which coop they want to live in.

wlh = ???

WLH = white leg horns.. they seem way more aggressive that my other chickies so my wlh have a dedicated coop just for them. I just returned the first one to the WLH coop after a 2 week separation, and they are not pecking on her now. I think the trick is to get their wounds healed up before putting them back. Honestly, I dont like the pecking and am thinking about just getting rid of all my wlh (10)
