9 large green tomatoes

Dice all, and drain 2-8 hours

6 cups sugar

Fill pint jars, and water bath can for 10 minutes. 15 for higher elevations.

Thanks. :hugs That's very sweet.

But honestly, I don't want to. My aunt is 96 and honestly, she can't do anything she loves, but her mind is in tact. That just means she knows what she can't do. She lives in a very nice care facility with 3 restaurants and lots of activities. She doesn't do any of the activities, and only goes down to eat once or twice a day. She occasionally tells me she is ready to go and doesn't know why she is still here. Now that is just sad, and I don't want to be that way. :old
But you don't have to be that way!!!! My dad is 98 and blind with Alzheimer's and he still finds joy in little things around him. You can too! It's just attitude, and I've read enough here to know you have a great attitude!

Thanks for the recipe! I'd really like this without the sugar!!! :drool

That is sweet. :love And just to end this crazy discussion of when I should die, I promise to live as long as I can. :lau

My "new" last truck i bought in 2004 Dodge Cummins One ton... Five speed stick. It was a 95 and had 185 thousand miles on it. It now has 300 thousand... I will still have to haul hay and grain especially if I bring my mare home.

Mine is a 1998 Chevy HD 3/4 ton 4x4 454 and has under 60,000 miles on it. I don't haul hay any more since the horse died when he was 29.

My girl is 26. Shes at a retirement facility for now. All 2000 pounds of her.... LOL.

I wont bring her home unless I can have a companion for her as well. Shes in a one acre paddock with three other horses. Lots of Scrub Oak Trees for shade in the summer. And Farrier and vet care.

The only thing I cannot guarantee her is Farrier care. Last good farrier I had came up from Mexico. But then he got a job in Palm Springs building a Road in Orange county. Technically he is a heavy construction Earth mover.

I have heard of Draft horses living well into their Thirties. Foot care is essential.

I didn’t know horror stories until after buying my canner. All American has so many locks, nothing can happen. If you are really nervous, wait until they are on sale on Amazon, and get an All American.
So many people that I know are afraid of the pressure cookers too. They always ask me if I'm scared to use mine. I'm not because my mom never cooked with one. My mom cooks with two things... The stove and the crock pot. I'm trying to get her to try the new technology... I haven't been successful yet!

Yes... and If you want you can use your pressure canner as a pressure cooker. There are even instructions in the literature that comes with the pressure canner.

The only problem I have with using the pressure canner as a cooker is they are made of aluminum. Aluminum should not be used to cook high acid foods like tomatoes, unless it has a protective coating like a non stick or ceramic. If you noticed most modern pressure cookers have a removable stainless or non stick liner.

Great article

Hard anodization is a good protective coating for aluminum. But its only a few microns thick and though it makes the surface tougher it still can be scratched off over time.

There ARE health benefits to eating food cooked in Cast iron... Iron from the pan does get into the food and can add Iron to your diet. Same goes for copper to some degree.
I prefer Stainless or inert as in Ceramic coated or Non stick aluminum.
