Many emotions here ... Ordered parts for old pressure canner; they came in yesterday. Happy! :D

But... These parts are like 30 years too new for my canner. So, sad. :(

But ... DH says I can order a new canner, so... happy! :D

But... I want to send parts back and get a refund first. So ... okay. Will wait. :rolleyes:Sigh. This is my own doing; DH would let me order new canner right away. :hmm

Next. Friend has extra cockerels/ roosters, am picking them up Monday. So, happy! :D They will go in freezer until canner arrives.
Wait. Am I happy or sad? :barnie Lol, can't keep track! :th:lau

Oooh! Canned chicken!!! :ya I have used the last of mine. I am ordering some Red Rangers for spring. If all goes well, I should have chicken to can in fall.

Deb, as a Sabbath keeper I often do a lot of cooking on Fridays. Yesterday I baked bread, made chicken noodle soup, a pot of beans for a potluck, and finally cooked my "Christmas" rib roast. The Kid asked me why it was that, even though I was tired and sore, it was still so much fun for me. My answer surprised and pleased even myself, and I think you'll get a kick out of it, too. I said, "Because the science of cooking is an art."

Sometimes I can't eat much due to gastric issues. But it pleases me to make food that is pleasing to my family. It isn't enough just to put something on the table that meets their nutritional requirements, though that's important. I want food to be beautiful and delicious and enticing and aromatic. And it's amazing to me that others have gone before me and figured out how to take raw materials and combine them in certain ways to make that happen. And now, through the magic that is Google and technology , I can cook a rib roast as good as anything I might find in a 4-star restaurant, if I could afford to dine in such an establishment. Is cooking a science, or is it an art? Yes, why yes, it is!
Bravo... Awesomely said. but the bottom line is YES....

Ok... I have a confession.... Zzzzt got to turn that bug light off. I am not a very good house keeper... More specifically not a good kitchen keeper...

I am sixty four years old and dont know how to get stainless steel clean and mark free.
If it doesnt come out of the diswasher clean I give it a scrub and run it through again...

Is there some secret potion that can be used to Clean stainless without scratching the heck out of it...???

Back when I was about twenty five I had food caked on so bat on the cookie sheets I would throw them away... When I visited a friend I was complaining about... and she said All you need is steel Wool... The stupid light came on.... No one had taught me how to keep house.

So fast forward and I am trying to help grandma out by cleaning her sink... I was accused of ruining all her stainless steel...

So I stopped trying... Now I want to pick up again. I have this pot I have used three times. ONce as a water bath canner Double stacked Apple butter... and Twice to attempt to make stock.

Came out of the dishwasher with black stains on the inside and a ring from the water level.

I use Comet. I kept my stainless steel pans looking great until my mother used them as mixing bowls with the hand mixer.

thank you so much.... I like the use of vinegar and salt as a scrubbing medium....

I will tackle the pot tomorrow.

Using vinegar is fine if what you are cleaning is basic. Most cooking residues are acidic and using baking soda as your scrubbing medium works much better.
