Can't believe NBC showed video of fatal luge crash

Hadn't heard about it, made a mistake and clicked the link on Drudge.

DON'T CLICK THE LINK

Walk out of the room if they are showing it AGAIN on TV.

NO ONE needs to see that.... especially KIDS!

I agree that ethics no longer exist at the TV networks, and yes they do continue to make huge foopas on air. if you continue to watch TV you may see some things that will make you turn off the converter box for good.

This is not directed at you TipsyDog...but at the idea that because someone/something crosses the line, its okay for everyone else to do it too. This is what is 'wrong' with media. Way back when...if we had said NO or been outraged by what certain media outlets were doing then maybe other outlets would not have followed suit. It just frustrates me to no end what the media is allowed to put out there for public viewing. I hate that if I leave the room while my 8 year old is watching TV that she might end up seeing or watching things that are not appropriate such as the film clip of the luger.

I plan to go send scathing emails to all of the media outlets that I see playing this video. Will it change the way that they do business? No. Its far too late to rein them in. But, I will feel better.

Gah!

I have never been so disgusted with the state of television.. and you think people actually spend their hard earned money on that... I am so glad I do not have cable or satellite anymore.

These games were thrown together on a shoestring budget and its starting to show.. death already, malfunctions at the opening ceremonies.. i hate to see whats next

Now there's a station that's desperate for ratings!

My email to The Today Show and other media outlets who found it acceptable to show this video.

I am simply disgusted by the direspectful choice made by The Today Show in airing the video of the death of the Olympic Luger. Would the story have been any less newsworthy without the video? Hardly.

I believe that the media has a responsibility to both the viewers of the news and the families of those in the news stories. In this case, you have failed the family of the Olympian and in fact, your viewers. The media needs to return to the days of responsible journalism and move away from shock-value-stories.

I am disheartened by your choice as I am sure many others are, including the family of the deceased.
