Okay, so am I the only one who was horrified that NBC just aired the actual video footage of the fatal luge crash at the Olympics today? I couldn't believe it. I flipped off once it was clear they were going to show the actual crash. What about that poor man's family? Or all of the kids watching the Olympic coverage this evening? We haven't had access to TV for years, and just got a digital converter box yesterday so we could watch the Olympics. Now I know why we gave up on TV entirely. I can only hope our country hasn't become so desensitized to violence that showing something like this is no big deal. Sigh.

There were 2 other wipe outs on that run today. I wonder if it's an engineering flaw. I'm glad they showed it because you can see that those beams should have been padded. I too feel sorry for his family. It was already shown worldwide, so I don't blame NBC for showing it. I had already seen it on a UK site earlier.

I didn't know and my coworker asked if I wanted to see pictures off the internet from the luge today. The pictures were of his crash and the paramedics working on him. He didn't look good. After viewing all the pictures I made the comment of "I hope he's okay". Then he told me he died.

The guy's poor family. I can't believe that these pictures are out there and that my coworker showed them to me.

It's so disgusting for them to play the video over and over

I'm sitting here in tears and I don't even know the family

The newscast that I saw didnt' show the point of contact out of respect for his family. It stopped the film befor that happened.

There are some things I, and the general public, just don't need to see. That was one of them.
