CANT BELIEVE RESCUESHELTERS (smallrant)

I got Norman the Beagle from a local beagle rescue outfit.

Paid a small adoption fee, less than $50. He came with a clean heartworm test, and vaccinations.

I don't think our home would be compatible with a border collie, we are way to layed back.

That organization doesn't sound like it is very well run.

thats a cute story too!! thanks for sharing!!! glad the dogs still with you, guess it was meant to be! (smile)

I have had several Border Collies and Cattle Dogs, always wonderful to own and only as aggressive as I was willing to let them act .I have also Dealt with some Dog Rescue programs ( BC,Greyhound). Some have the best intentions but just don't follow thru. Some are fanatical almost to the point that they don't seem to want to adopt out their dogs. I don't know what is worse,,a program with good intentions that ends up caring for the dogs in a sub-standard way or no rescue program at all.

You think that is bad.
In a county south of us there is an animal shelter that has been taken over by the sheriffs department.

Well my sons cat died suddenly. We had our vet find out why. She had eaten a fox tail plant and it had gotten stuck and ruptered her bowel. He called infectious feline peritinitisis. Said none of our other cats could get it unless they ate a fox tail too.

Well we went to adopt a new cat for him. We found one he really wanted. Did all the paperwork and I found out that honesty is not always the best policy. They wouldn't let us get the cat. Tried to call our vet to tell them what killed our sons cat. They wouldn't listen. Our vet did call them, they still wouldn't let us adopt the cat.
I hate the thought of what happened to that cat after we couldn't adopt it.
They said they called a vet about it and it turns out it was our vets old boss who is a major jerk. That's a tale for another day.

We went to a different shelter. Son was in the cat room and this long haired cat came up to him, sniffed him and crawled up in his lap and went to sleep.
We told them what happened to our sons other cat, since they knew our vet they said no problem. Filled out the paperwork, paid the fee and Fuzzy Lover is one happy cat. Now if we can just keep her from knocking the screen off of the sons window and escaping outside we would be fine.
