Can't even give them away!!!!!!!

I didn't see Senior Citizens group? You might not be able to get $2 a dozen, but a $1 would at least help you recoup some of your investment. I can't believe no one is buying . . .I pay .75 which is miraculous and they are big brown ones, but my egg guy just wants to buy the feed and not make any extra he says. Good luck!!!! I am still just in shock!!! People are so dumb. They won't eat an egg off of a farm, but they buy those eggs at WM that are 6 weeks old. YUCK!!!!

I wish I lived close to you. I would take those eggs off of your hands.. I dont yet have chickens of my own. But when I visit my aunts farm that is 4 1/2 hours away. I alway bring back some eggs to eat.. Yummy. I hate store eggs. But that is what I have to get..

I've had people say they prefer the eggs from the supermarket because they "feel" the eggs are cleaner whereas farm eggs come from "stinky" coops in backyards. No amount of rationalizing will work in this case. The industrialization of food has taken people far from their food sources.

Also the value of farm chicken eggs is lost on some so selling them for anything more than supermarket prices is a lost cause.

Luckily I have a few regulars that can't get enough of the eggs at 2.50-3.00. All the money goes into my son's piggy bank. They like that too.

Thanks for the advice. I am in a farming community but they are like "Duh"! I do have a lead on a local dairy that sells their milk and they have had people asking for organic eggs, I reckon mine qualify since they don't get any type of medications and are free range. Does anyone know what qualifies them for organic?

Call you local country high school, ask for the AG teacher. Tell him/her that you need the assistance of a hardworking FFA kid who could use the extra cash. The teacher will know who NEEDS it, AG teachers are very good about this. Tell the referred kid that you will supply the eggs if he/she will sell them. Tell them they can keep everything over 1.00 per dozen. Give them the first couple of dozen to get going (make them pay you back out of sales) and after that they can use their first proceeds to "buy" eggs from you to "sell". they can make flyers and do all the leg work, selling to teachers at school, door to door etc. You will be getting your eggs sold, supporting a great youth program & a hardworking kid that needs the income.

You can freeze them too! Put 2 in a snacksize ziplock. Scramble. Freeze. Thaw and use!
My DD loves to be the scrambler!

I have a waiting list for the eggs. My DH gives quite a few away to clients so we never have extra. A friend who also has chickens sold a few at church and word spread and she can't keep up with the orders. I think once they use the fresh eggs how can they go back to the store bought. A close friend of mine who buys eggs from me read that the egg farms bleach their eggs. After that she quit buying eggs in the store and only goes the coop (local farm provides) or through me. I also cut my carton in half (serated bread knife works great) for the senior citizens that I give/sell to because they don't always go through a dozen as fast.

My daughter lives in Whitehouse so we are close. I have a waiting list a mile long. One person is coming in from NY and wants 6 doz. Mine are blue but that shouldn't make any difference because we are talking about eggs to eat. E-mail me and maybe we can work something out. I would try some of the other things that people are saying. Eggs back to chickens is very good for them. My girls wish I would give them more. Any way good luck you just haven't found the right people. On the other hand I can't sell my other house and I know that's what you do. Some people can do things that others can't do.

"CL" is craigslist. That is exactly what I did. But, when I posted them on there for a whole week I got no response. Well, I had to do something so I started an "Egg Club" Which I ran another ad on craigslist that said free farm fresh eggs to whomever wants to join my egg club. So far I have sold 4 doz. I actually just sold my 4 doz right now as I was posting this post. When they contact me I tell them that the 1st doz is free, then if you bring back the carton all the rest are $2 a doz. I also provide them with a contact card that reminds them of the club highlights and my contact info so they can reorder. So far it is working out. Also at the beginning I had to turn away a good 6 or so people that wanted to join. I just didn't have enough eggs. I had to pull the ad because I got to many responses. So it might work for you! I was trying to encourage repeat business, you may want to do it a little different to suit your needs. Good Luck, here is my ad to give you an idea of what I did.
