Can't even give them away!!!!!!!

Some people make me so mad. I've heard people say they would never eat eggs from a farm chicken because its gross. What? Chickens living happy lives and not trapped in cages, pumped full of meds, is gross? Wow. Really makes you lose faith in people.... How terrible is it that people would rather eat store bought factory farm meat and eggs than naturally grown?

Don't lose heart, I bet you will find some loyal customers

I know my friends love my eggs, except the guy whose doctor told him to watch his cholesterol. He sat across from me at the restaurant stuffing his face with fried mozarella sticks and fried zuchini and then pizza, telling me he has to cut back on eggs for his health. ??? oh my!!

Mrs.Puff :

Maybe we could change Paul McCartney's quote: "If egg factories had glass walls, everyone would eat my farm eggs." (If all slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian-- said Paul)

McCartney is definitely the Eggman.

I know what you mean.

I had one person say 'I would never eat an egg straight from a chicken', I laughed and asked, 'where do you think the eggs from a supermarket comes from?'

If everyone saw a video of egg farm conditions, none of us would have any issues selling our homegrown eggs.

Thanks for all the ideas guys! Although I'm some what selfish myself and would like to re-coop (Ha!) some of my feed loss. I'm dropping buisness cards at feed stores etc.
I have 20 hens laying right now. 20X7=140................... Lawd have mercy!!!!!! I do have a few going broody but I have to take the eggs from them since I don't want my flock size to increase at present. My total flock size is 21 hens 2 roos. Plus 3 peafowl.
And...time marches on....

maybe if you try giving some away to some friends or for favors done maybe then you will realize you sell them and ask to buy some

I was talking to a city friend and I asked them this question why is it that you would rather go to Wal-mart and buy eggs from them then to buy eggs from me which you know are fresh and from well fed chickens that run free........the answer I got was simple,
He said "because I know the one's from Wal-mart aren't chicken abortions"
I asked......WHAT?
He said there is no rooster involed so no fertile eggs no chance of cracking it open and finding a chic inside.
I laughed and said dang city folk if you only knew....

SO I explained it to him and now he will only eat farm fresh eggs but he has to keep them in a store bought egg carton so his kids will eat them lol if they only knew.

Long story short I bet alot of city folk think this way and that is why they don't buy FFE's at least that is my guess. I know round here in my area alot of people sell them for 3-4 dollars a dozen and can't keep up with the demand.

So maybe you should explain to folks how they are safe to eat and are not going to have a chic inside when they crack them open if your like me you will candle them before selling or sticking in the fridge.

My grandmother used to keep eggs by freezing them as well so it does work they just aren't a fresh as when you crack them how ever they will keep for awhile in the freezer so this is an option for you.

Good luck selling those eggs

In my town the local homeless shelter is delighted to take all the eggs I care to give them.

I'd give them to food pantries as well, but haven't found one that can handle perishables. But you may have one in your area.

I give free samples to folks who I think would likely become customers once they had tried the eggs.

.....Alan.

My friends seem to be selling my eggs for me. I had several doz. eggs in the fridge that I gave to my neighbors, and then a friend of mine comes over and says she had a few people who wanted eggs from me - she told them it was $5 per doz. and they agreed!!! LOL - "ok then, here you go" I say handing over 3 doz. eggs. The thing is, I think, people want to know it comes from a trusted source. Buying them off a stranger you don't know what you might be getting. So if you can find a place, or ask your friends to ask their co-workers etc. if they would like to buy farm fresh eggs at a great price that would be supporting a local farm, I suspect your business will pick up. Too, as others suggested, local farmers markets or saturday markets are a great source for making contacts and selling your products. Maybe go in on a booth with a couple others who have other crafts or products to sell. Best of success to you!!!
