Can't figure out what's wrong

Wow! So much help. Many thanks. I've learned so much in 24 hours. This is the current situation:
  • Vet said make a sand & DE dustbath pan for inside the coop for all birds since I'm in rainy Oregon
  • Hen dusted with DE under wings & on vent (will monitor daily for mites since some say DE doesn't work)
  • Beak trimmed
  • Mix of all-flock & layer crumbles+ grit for feed
  • Hen Boost probiotics in water
She currently is chowing down on her crumble feed mix. I'll check her crop tonight to make sure it's full. I'll keep her under observation for the weekend to make sure she's eating well. Hoping this will be the road to recovery. She's a trooper!

i have seen people put the dust in a pillow case, stick bird in with head out, wrap up and shake it onto them

just like shake n bake, lol

you just want to be sure it gets to the base of the feathers

'Shake and bake' got more permethrin dust on me than on the birds! Without that N95 dust mask, I nearly ended up in the hospital.:old
DE is toxic to inhale, for both you and the chickens, and doesn't work well at all.
USE PERMETHRIN!!!
Grit is offered in a separate dish, or scattered around. Oyster shell is also offered in a separate feeder, and a good all-flock feed makes sense for everyone. I feed Flock Raiser, which is always fresh at my local feed stores, and 20% protein.
Always check the mill date on each bag of feed, and nothing older than four or five weeks, that you can feed within six or seven weeks of milling.
