I have 6 hens and 2 roosters in 3 different coops. In one are 3 hens and a roo, and no one has been laying for months. They are +2 1/2 years old, active, eating and drinking well. Two RR hens have pinkish combs that fall over (one paler than the other and looking raggedy with white feathers peeking through the brown), and the silver laced Wyandot's comb. Is pink. The roo has a healthy red comb. There's been a lot of diarrhea in this coop, but I couldn't see worms, so added vinegar to their water with no appreciable change. Took stool sample to Vet, who is not a chicken expert. He found capillary worms in stool, so got Wazine 17 and put it in their water for 48 hours. Still had one diarrhea deposit, and 10 days later, maybe another. It will be time to redose in three days, but I'm thinking there's more to this. I would have expected no diarrhea by now.
In another coop are 2 hens 3 1/2 years old, who haven't been laying for several months. One has a pasty bottom. Gave her a spa treatment, but she had a dirty bottom again a few days later. I treated these girls with Wazine 17 also, although they have normal poop.
All chickens have gone through molt and are getting new feathers in, so I wasn't expecting eggs - but the diarrhea and poopy bottom have me worrying. Would appreciate advice!
