Can't find hard plastic kiddie pools anywhere!

That's an excellent idea I was just about to post. A rectangle of concrete block with EPDM laying over it. You can buy it in any dimensions.
the kind used for roofing is exactly the same as that used for ponds. so either will work. Just google EPDM rubber.
Dripworks and Anjon are two companies that I have bought from. Anjon carries it in 45 and 60 mil thickness. 45 is enough if you use a liner like a high quality weedstop landscape fabric, which you should use anyway. The stuff is very tough though and lasts forever.

@TWLR- That is a really neat design. Are those pressure treated, and what did you make the liner out of? My dad and I built my chicken coop out of rough cut hemlock. That really cant come in contact with the ground thought because it can become rotten very fast. Any suggestions?

Just wanted to let everyone know about pools for later on.

Used to run a daycare and lots of little guys that needed cooled off inthe summer.

Babies r Us has them probably starting in March. Lasted us forever and they were cheaper than Walmart.

The pic was from online googline Landscape Timber Pond
I think most landscape timbers are pressure treated. It's on a message board, so I'm sure the details are there too.

I didn't know there was "new stuff". I thought it was all just arsenic. I wouldn't suggest using that. I will have to investigate this new stuff you speak of.

If you use pressure treated anything for a pond, you are lining it with pond liner (and something behind the liner), so it won't be an issue. Unless your ducks eat wood. Not any different than them hanging out on my deck.
