Can't find organic chick starter locally! UGH!

I have nothing local to me either, so I have to order online. I don't have a huge flock, though. Do you have a lot of birds?

Where do you order from? I have 10 chicks coming in April. :/ I contacted a place out west and they said they might be able to ship me some chick starter pretty cheap, but are having to get back to me.

I'm on the east coast so I buy from Countryside Organics... if you are on the other side of the Rockies, you have several other choices that might be less expensive for shipping. A 25 pound bag of their chick starter seemed to last me a few months with my 8 chicks-- long enough that they were old enough to be on a full size grower grain instead of starter. The only difference from Countryside is the size of the feed, they mill it finer for chicks.

I'm in Georgia. I checked into Countryside, but I can't remember now how much shipping was going to cost me. That's good to know about the size of bag and your chicks. I was wondering if I needed to get a 25 or 50lb and how long it'd last me. I can't give starter after a certain age, can I? Like if I needed to use it up?

The place I'm looking at right now is Wild Sage Urban Farms. They have feed for $31 (shipping included) but it's regular feed, not starter. They're going to look into starter for me. It's not organic, but non-GMO, no soy, etc.

Yep-- at least with Countryside, you can feed starter to any age bird. It is the same as their grower feed, just milled finer for little chick crops and gizzards to digest!

I buy my organic feed from Azure Standard. Basically it is like a once a month food coop that gets you whole foods type products/produce/household supplies for a much cheaper price. They have routes all over the country, you should see if they have one near you. I absolutely love them! You have to log into an account to see the prices.
